Root Canal Aftercare Guide
After root canal treatment, your tooth and the surrounding area may feel sensitive for a few days. This is completely normal and should gradually improve.
Immediately After Treatment
- Avoid eating or drinking until the anaesthetic has worn off completely.
- Do not bite or chew on the treated tooth until your permanent restoration is placed.
- Take prescribed painkillers as directed if you experience discomfort.
Oral Hygiene After Root Canal
Continue brushing and flossing normally, but be gentle around the treated area. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and avoid excessive pressure near the treated tooth.
When to Call Your Dentist
- Severe or worsening pain that is not relieved by medication
- Visible swelling or an allergic reaction
- The temporary or permanent crown feels loose
